The course deals with fundamental topics and problems of modern history of Central Europe since the Enlightenment period to post-communist transformation. It covers basic events from politics, economy, culture and international relations, and explains also the main trends of development of the region.
The aim of the course is to provide students with the basic knowledge of Central European history and to verify the level and internalization of this knowledge.
The course combines lecture and seminar with the debate on selected issues.

Course assessment is based on A-F scale defined by Dean´s of the Faculty provision 20/2019 (https://fsv.cuni.cz/deans-measure-no-20/2019) obligatory for all courses and lecturers. Read the provision carefully before applying!
Asssessment structure:
1. Coursework (20 points, minimum 10):
a) Presentation 1 (10 points, minimum 5)
b) Presentation 2 (10 points, minimum 5)
2. Midterm (30 points, mininum 15):
3. Final paper (50 points, minimum 26), deadline 30 May, 23.59, submit to Moodle
