This course offers an introduction to European integration studies to students of the „History and Area Studies“ undergraduate programme. In turn, the course covers the history, institutional, legal, economic, political and security dimensions of European integration, and the particular perspective of Central European member states. In introduces the students into key concepts in the theoretical reflection of European integration and, throughout the term, it reviews selected current issues in the EU.

Aims of the Course:

Upon completing the course, the students will have mastered the fundamentals of the historical development and contemporary functioning of the European Union. They will understand the its institutional design and decision-making procedures, the specifics of its political culture, the impact of its internal diversity, and the limits and current challenges to the integration process.
